Peter Simmeth

Peter Simmeth has been advocating for safer and more efficient streets in Lane County since 2022. He is a graduate of the UO’s Master of Community and Regional Planning Program and serves as co-chair of the City of Eugene’s Active Transportation Committee and member of LTD’s Strategic Planning Committee. Peter’s passion for transportation comes from a desire to build more economically and environmentally sustainable cities that foster social connection.

Before his professional career in transportation, Peter volunteered as an advocate through BEST’s Walking Cycle of Change and taught in 4J School District. It was at schools like Churchill HS and Cal Young MS where he saw how critical active transportation is to young people’s independence, and their ability to participate in their community.

On weekends, you can find Peter backpacking, reading along the river path, or floating down the Willamette.
